Download Fire One from MAMEdev without crossing its non-commercial limit
Use only MAMEdev's Fire One page and complete its non-commercial acknowledgement there. The approved catalog limits distribution to the MAMEdev site, so ArcadeShelf may link to that page but must not mirror, proxy, bundle, prefetch, or create a direct-download shortcut. For compatibility, record the `fireone` short name and target MAME revision, then audit your authorized local file; MAME 0.289 source metadata is not an Android test result.
Do this in order
- 01
Open MAMEdev's Fire One page directly, read the named creators and H.R. Kauffman permission statement, and do not use a mirror, aggregator, or copied download control.
- 02
Acknowledge on MAMEdev that the ROM images are for non-commercial use only before initiating any official-page download.
- 03
Record the exact official URL, title, Exidy attribution, permission scope, MAMEdev-only distribution boundary, and August 5, 2026 review date.
- 04
Keep Fire One separate from Star Fire and other Exidy sets; the fixed MAME 0.289 driver identifies `fireone` as one parent machine.
- 05
For a local technical check, record the authorized file's own checksum, target app and MAME revision, and the target build's audit result without treating source hashes as your file receipt.
- 06
Use only an `Official source` link in a site or app, preserve the MAMEdev acknowledgement flow, and re-review immediately if the page, permission, ownership, monetization, or product flow changes.
Decision and diagnostic table
| Claim | Evidence | Safe conclusion |
|---|---|---|
| Free non-commercial use | MAMEdev Fire One title page | Eligible only within the stated scope |
| Public distribution | MAMEdev approved ROM catalog | MAMEdev site only; no ArcadeShelf mirror |
| Machine identity | Fixed MAME 0.289 `starfire.cpp` | One `fireone` parent is registered |
| Works on this Android device | Named build audit and lawful local test | Not established by source metadata alone |
The acknowledgement is part of the permission flow
MAMEdev says H.R. Kauffman made the original Fire One ROM images available for free, non-commercial use and requires the downloader to acknowledge that condition on the title page. A direct-file shortcut would remove that reviewed step.
Free access does not authorize a mirror
The approved ROM catalog says the files are approved for distribution on the MAMEdev site only. It specifically withholds permission to put them on another site or bundle them with MAME, software, a cabinet, or another item without separate owner permission.
Rights and compatibility need separate receipts
The rights receipt records the official page and scope. The technical receipt records the locally acquired file, target build, audit, launch, input, and audio results. MAME's driver definitions describe expected components but are not an ArcadeShelf-generated archive checksum or device test.
Fire One is not public domain. The reviewed permission is free non-commercial use through MAMEdev, with public distribution limited to that site. Do not mirror, proxy, cache, hotlink, bundle, resell, prefetch, or bypass the acknowledgement, and do not reuse screenshots, cabinet art, audio, logos, or title artwork without permission.
