Fix RetroArch achievements and choose Hardcore mode safely on Android
First confirm that RetroArch is logged in, the Achievements list appears for the loaded game, and the core is supported by RetroAchievements. Hardcore intentionally blocks features such as save states, slow motion, and cheats; choose Standard mode if you need those tools. If an unlock happens offline, reconnect before closing the current session because the pending result is not a durable substitute for a normal save.
Do this in order
- 01
Record the RetroArch package, core and version, authorized game identity, account name without its credential, network state, and whether Standard or Hardcore mode is selected.
- 02
Open Settings → Achievements, confirm the feature and account are active, then relaunch content without exposing the password or login token in a screenshot or log.
- 03
Open Quick Menu → Achievements; if no list appears, check game recognition and the service's supported-core list before changing files.
- 04
Choose Hardcore only if you accept its restrictions on save states, slow motion, cheats, and other state-altering features; otherwise stay in Standard mode.
- 05
Trigger one known achievement condition on an authorized, unmodified baseline and preserve the on-screen message, time, mode, core, and network result.
- 06
If the session was offline, reconnect before closing it; if the unlock still fails, report the game hash and core metadata without uploading the game, save, firmware, or credential.
Decision and diagnostic table
| Observation | Likely boundary | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Login suddenly fails | Expired service token or account state | Clear and re-enter the account through the UI |
| No achievement list | Unrecognized game or unsupported core | Hash identity and supported-core table |
| Hardcore turns off | A prohibited feature or modified environment | Return to an allowed baseline or use Standard |
| Unlock happened offline | Pending current-session delivery | Reconnect before closing RetroArch |
Recognition comes before the unlock condition
An achievement can be evaluated only after the service identifies the game and the core exposes a compatible memory map. A title, filename, or successful boot alone does not prove that identity.
Hardcore is a ruleset, not a performance mode
Hardcore separates results that avoid state manipulation. Save states, slow motion, cheats, rewind, patched content, and some core options can conflict with that promise. Standard mode remains the honest choice when accessibility, diagnosis, or recovery requires those tools.
Credentials and game data stay out of support evidence
A useful report names RetroArch, core, mode, visible game identity, recognition state, time, and network result. It does not need a password, token, ROM, BIOS, save file, or memory dump.
Achievements do not authorize the underlying game, firmware, patches, artwork, or account sharing. Use a lawful game copy, follow the external service's rules, protect credentials, and never upload protected content merely to prove recognition.
